El proyecto persigue una definición conceptual cualitativa en el enclave previsto: un relieve irregular más que una caja neutra. La nueva Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología UTEC desarrolla un programa diversificado y unitario a partir de una superficie recortada y plegada en la que una distribución en peine articula diversos espacios funcionales independizados e (inter)conectados. Tres grandes unidades funcionales (hall / nave(s)-aulas + distribuidor(es) / muelle- patio) y un cuerpo doble ("torre / edificio") destinado a espacio de auditorios, comedor y programa con cierta independencia respecto a la Universidad.

La propuesta integra en un nuevo paisaje natural y artificial los diferentes niveles topográficos del terreno adaptándolos a las diferentes funciones previstas. La geometría del sistema global, que configura al mismo tiempo los niveles del edificio, las terrazas y el jardín, se relaciona con patrones estelados, vegetales y minerales a la vez (de ciertas formaciones florales) y adopta la forma de una estructura triangular que se superpone en altura, en una secuencia destinada a aprovechar las diferencias de cotas en el terreno y a articular diversos patios "interior/exterior" y espacios asociados. La forma triangular de las naves contenedoras de las aulas nace de una geometría a base de "A" combinada acordada a la propia organización espacial – en alas funcionales – y configurada como un patrón variable que se superpone, eleva y desliza a la vez, estableciendo puentes entre el edificio y el espacio verde exterior.

La propuesta planteada como traducción espacial y cultural de dicha sensibilidad, quiere expresar, conceptual y arquitectónicamente, los propios contenidos contemplados, materializando en una nueva geografía relacional su principal característica: la de el concepto de paisaje operativo. Éste traza una geometría irregular de montes y valles asociados a un gran perfil quebrado que configura una cubierta pública y transitable y divide el espacio en ámbitos expositivos. Las forma de las aulas son (re)definidas por la estructura base modificadas para el apilamiento volumétrico y generar formas mas audaces y a la vez racionales en el sentido estructural, planteando una visión mas eficiente que pueda solucionar de la mejor forma posible el requerimiento de aulas en gradería.

The project of CITY LIVING NETWORKS (CLN) starts with a simple idea: the (re)usability of the natural networks in our ecosystem modifying and extending them to generate biodigital links for data exchange in real-time // This concept of natural networks uses the DNA system to interchange biological and digital information creating therefore a network of networks, in multiple scales, up- grading the genetic information and different chains to biodigital levels // The key of this network is the BDDE (Bio Digital Data Exchange), that is a (theorical) new protocol that allow to connect any living thing to a machine, just simple as that, this technology would be able to talk to trees, know about their needs (water, clean air, etc) and modifying their genetic growth, to help nature give the next step in evolution.

La intervención tiene como objetivo la restauración de una Casa Buque ubicada en los Barrios Altos, distrito céntrico de Lima Metropolitana, las pésimas condiciones existentes obligaron a realizar agresivas modificaciones para poder mantener y revitalizar esta histórica casa colec- tiva. El detalle técnico más importante para este planteamiento fue el de dotar de un corazón al proyecto, este corazón es una caja (estructuralmente hablando), la cual cumple la función de conectar ambos patios centrales a nivel horizontal y vertical, conecta y distribuye los es- pacios comunes y accesos a las viviendas, y a su vez alberga y centraliza las instalaciones mecánicas, eléctricas, sanitarias.

Para el desarrollo del proyecto se liberaron las plantas originales, fortaleciendo los ejes y eli- minando algunos elementos, esta operación consiguió una mejor distribución de las plantas independizando y haciéndolas autosuficientes, el tratamiento de los espacios comunes se implementó y se logró separar los ambientes comunes de los privados, convirtiendo las áreas privadas solo accesibles a los vecinos.

The project is located between the Yaas and the Saadiyat Islands, on a desertic stretch of waterfront without any vegetation.

The main idea of this project is to design ecological platforms that provided services to people allowing them to realise all kinds of activities, a multifunctional space created to show the world the new bio-climatic and sustainable technologies that are being developed in the United Arab Emirates.

The sustainability concept is very simple, we have chosen to focus on three fundamental points: the development of territories designated to renewable energies, such as wind or solar energy power stations, the recycling of oil barrels and the assembly of the spaces throught multithematic routes.

In Abu dhabi, as the capital of the United Arab Emirates, the emphasis is currently on ecological proposals, but what exactly is an ecological proposal?, we, as citiziens of the world, should ask to ourselves that question; we are creating the non-natural landscapes that someday will be the past of people, now we have the opportunity to combine sustainability, architecture, urbanism and social interaction.

Network & Links: The project forms an essential part of a larger network shaped by the geographic conditions of Abu Dhabi, a network that is connecting the grid of the existing and future territories with living nexuses. This complex and intelligent network is calling for a new logical approach taking into consideration all interactive elements.

These links that connect the “hot spots” of the grid are based on the relationship between the landscape and the human being, this urban structure develops new areas in an efficient way merging the natural and the artificial into a brand new sustainable landscape.

The site is subdivided into three main areas: the City (the zone next to the road), the nature (in the middle) and the waterfront. Each one of these areas includes various activities, which can be further subcategorized into: services, sports, relax, art, culture, education and recreation.

The plan develops circular platforms, which have different dimensions and are made of different materials. The platforms are connected through a “promenade” which integrates the space and generates routes across the intervention area.

The linked network we propose for this project is the key that generates different landscapes and different activity areas and also connect the sustainable energy obtained from the sun and the wind.

To add to the complexity and the links between the platforms, this network works not only on a horizontal level but also on a vertical level providing a bridge across the highway that will connect the platforms with the other part of the island.

One of the main ideas of our proposal is the use of local materials for each of the platforms. For instance, we recycle oil barrels, transforming them into garbage containers or structural elements.

In a few words we can describe our project as a connector among the sustainable elements that exist in Abu Dhabi and a linked network.
